Exercise need not be only on a stationary bike, elliptical machine, treadmill or on a weights machine.
For most of us, being out in the woods is therapeutic, even if just for the fresh air. Just getting to the woods usually helps stack up the steps and brings us closer to whatever your goal is, be it 10k steps or 2k steps.
You will have the added bonus of birds chirping, leaves rustling, maybe see some wildlife if you are lucky (we see deer in our neck of the woods – literally).
While the physical benefits are obvious, the sometimes bigger, hidden benefit of this treat to our senses, hearing, smell and touch, is the increased sense of well-being, increasing our connectedness to nature, and bringing a sense of peace. Unless of course, blackflies insist on keeping you company.
