Water Power

Water Power

Water is probably the most fascinating aspect of life.  We all know that without it, we would not be here.  70% of us is a living puddle.  This puddle in its multiple containers moves around with us, cooling us, transporting nutrients, setting us up for our next movement, our next thought.

So much of us depends and exists only because of this clear, colorless and neutral liquid.

Yet the power that it holds is in its innate ability to move, to permeate, and its inability to contain itself. It moves in directions determined only by its surroundings and is contained only by the limits exerted by its surroundings.  So much power to wield, and yet the power it has, like anything else, is limited by how much it can be controlled and be held in place.

Like any thing or being with power, its strength is determined by how much rein we give it.

I have this incredible fascination with water.  I love to kayak, glide on the lake, feel its gentle movement underneath, take in its power to support so many life beings within its depths.  And yet, that same awed feeling is accompanied by the knowledge of how destructive it can be in its fury when unleashed and left without boundaries.  How eagerly and quickly it can drown those who cannot overcome its strength if swallowed when they are weak or too tired to get out of it.  What is life giving at times, is oblivion at others.  What is life giving to some, is oblivion to others.  What is life to fish and the water world is oblivion to us and those of the air world.  We belong to our sphere, to our zones and the warnings are clear.  Respect and move within other zones and one’s own with care and thoughtfulness.

With water so important to our daily lives, the instructions with regards to water are simple to each of us to keep functioning – drink eight glasses a day.  Keep it clean and simple.  Plain water is best.
